Hi all! Zach Cizek here. This is my very first blog for our website. For my first few blogs, I am going to concentrate on specific recipes incorporating our Tuscan Red condiment sauce. But first, I want to introduce our sauce!
When we make and sell our signature Bollito sandwich we incorporate two condiments onto our sandwich. While selling Bollito sandwiches, I noticed an overwhelming amount of customers commenting on how they loved our red sauce, So I decided to bottle it!
Tuscan Red is unlike any other sauce on the market. We use an Italian pepper grown in the Calabrian Region of Italy. Calabria is known for its warm climate and Mediterranean rocky coastline. Because of Calabria's regional features, their pepper develops a unique fruity yet spicy taste. For our Tuscan Red sauce, we use peppers that are harvested by a local Calabrian farm. Tuscan Red's peppers are imported to Chicago in 60 gallon drums, preserved in an all natural brine.
Back to us! A month after we began bottling our Tuscan Red sauce we signed up for the first annual Chicago Hot Sauce Festival, where we launched Tuscan Red (August 2016). Tuscan Red took a second place finish! And we sold out of our Tuscan Red stock!
Naming Tuscan Red sauce. For 5 minutes, my fiance Jessica and I each wrote down potential names for our Bollito's sauce . After the 5 minutes was over, we reviewed our list. Tuscan Red red stuck.
How about our Label? Jessica's uncle, Brian Adducci a founding partner and design principal at Capsule in Minneapolis, MN. Check out Capsule's webpage, www.capsule.us. Brian was awesome in working with us to create our label for Tuscan Red. Overwhelmingly, the very first thing we hear about Tuscan Red is how awesome the label is. Thank you Brian and your Capsule team for creating a winning logo for our Tuscan Red sauce.
Today, we have Tuscan Red selling at 11 different stores in IL, NY, and FL. We recently reached a deal with Whole Foods Midwest, and will have our Tuscan Red selling into all 50 Midwest Whole Foods locations. Click on the Whole Foods Midwest link above to see where you can find us May 1st.
We will continue to share our Tuscan Red sauce with as many people as possible. We have a great story and an even better product.
